ROUNDHOUSE LODGE - WHISTLER BLACKCOMB
AESTHIETC EXCELLENCE MEETS HIGH-ALTITUDE DESIGN.
At the Whistler Mountain Umbrella Bar, now an integral feature of the renovated Roundhouse Lodge Terrace and Viewing Deck, the Meissl Integrated Umbrella Bar system defines comfort and performance at high altitudes.
Engineered for the most challenging conditions, the Meissl Giant MR 12-meter umbrella stands as a testament to innovative design. Its robust construction features precision-engineered steel and glass wind walls, crafted to shield patrons from biting winds and unpredictable mountain elements while delivering uninterrupted, panoramic views of Whistler Village and the surrounding peaks.
Installed in September 2017 at an elevation of 6,069 feet, this technical marvel was brought to life after a rigorous 10-kilometer ascent along winding, snowy mountain roads. Despite early-season snow challenges and the slow commute punctuated by frequent bear sightings, the dedicated UmbrellaBar USA team, supported by the invaluable expertise of the Whistler Blackcomb Mountain Operations crew, overcame every obstacle. Cranes and heavy machinery played crucial roles in ensuring that the Meissl umbrella was securely and precisely positioned on the new deck at Roundhouse Lodge.
Now offering 60+ heated, year-round patio seats, the Whistler Mountain Umbrella Bar not only enhances the visitor experience but also stands as a beacon of technical and aesthetic excellence in high-altitude design. Whether you're seeking refuge from the elements or simply admiring the mountain vistas, this fusion of advanced engineering and rugged elegance promises an unparalleled alpine experience.
